Restorative Teaching Tools Training

Note: The 2021 training has been postponed due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19. Please complete the form below to be notified when new dates are scheduled.

This course will prepare participants to be leaders of Restorative Practices implementation in their communities, equipping them to offer training in Restorative Justice, Circles, and Restorative Conversations.

Based on the approach to training introduced in The Little Book of Restorative Teaching Tools, this workshop centers on the use of experiential games and activities to teach the philosophy and skills of Restorative Practices. This approach cultivates classroom relationships and allows participants to have equal voice and learn from each other.

Participants will come away equipped with a large range of games and activities to bring back to their communities. They will also learn how to design their own activities based on the needs of their learners and how to design and debrief an activity-based class or training.

Facilitators: Dr. Lindsey Pointer and Kathleen McGoey

Prerequisite: Participants should be familiar with Restorative Justice and Restorative Practices prior to enrolling in this course. The focus of this course is learning how to train others in Restorative Practices. Therefore, a preexisting knowledge of Restorative Justice philosophy and practice is necessary

"I can’t recommend Lindsey and Kathleen’s consultancy work highly enough, their amazing blend of experience, knowledge and contextual understanding is second to none. You are immediately at ease with both of them and they are laser focussed when working towards meeting your learning needs. Their creativity and laughter have taken my practice to a new level. Listening to them bring a whole new game to life as guests on the Talking Piece podcast was beyond inspiring, it was simply sensational. In my opinion Lindsey and Kathleen are two of the best practitioners in the field, working with them will not just bring great things to your restorative practice, it will enrich your life.”
